Attorney Referrals

Georgia Trial Lawyers for Catastrophic Injury and Wrongful Death
Attorney Referrals

If your client has a catastrophic injury or wrongful death case that falls outside your practice, we want to hear from you. McDonald & Cody handles the cases that most firms are not equipped to take. We prepare every case for trial, we have the financial resources to see it through, and we protect the relationship you have built with your client.

Many of the referral calls we receive come from lawyers who have worked with us before or have heard about us from colleagues. If you are reaching out for the first time, here is what you need to know.

What Cases We Handle

We take serious, high-stakes cases involving permanent life-altering injuries, defective products, and wrongful death. We also handle medical malpractice, birth injuries, commercial trucking accidents, premises liability, over-served bar customer cases, sexual assault and abuse, and select business litigation.

We decline multiple cases every week. If we accept a referral from you, it means the firm believes in the case and is prepared to commit the full resources of the firm to it. We do not take files to warehouse them.

If you have a client with a serious injury and you are not sure whether it fits, call us. The conversation is confidential, and there is no obligation. We will tell you honestly what we think.

Why Referring Attorneys Choose McDonald & Cody

When you send a serious case to another firm, you are putting your reputation on the line. Your client trusts you. They will hold you responsible for who you sent them to. That weight is real, and we take it seriously.

Here is what matters most to the attorneys who refer cases to us.

The Track Record Behind the Referral

McDonald & Cody has over $100 million in total recoveries, 400+ jury trials, and a 100% trial win rate. The firm has been trusted since 1969. Three generations of attorneys. 110+ years of combined legal experience.

Recent results include a $33 million settlement against a lithium-ion battery manufacturer, a $17.2 million wrongful death verdict in Gwinnett County in 2025, and documented trial verdicts that came back 2 to 4 times higher than what insurance companies first offered.

These results are not the product of volume. They are the product of preparation, selectivity, and a genuine willingness to go to trial when a settlement offer does not reflect the full value of the case.

What We Bring to Every Referred Case

How the Referral Process Works

Call us. That is where every referral starts. We do not require forms or intake questionnaires before we will speak with you. Tell us about the case. We will tell you honestly whether it is something we can take.

If the case is not right for us, we will tell you promptly and confidentially. We will not leave you or your client waiting.

If we agree to move forward, we will discuss referral fee arrangements in compliance with Georgia Bar Rule 1.5(e) before any agreement is made. The terms will be clear, in writing, and handled professionally.

From there, we take over the case fully. We handle all communication with your client, all litigation expenses, and all case management. You will receive regular updates. If something important happens in the case, you will hear from us promptly.

Most cases conclude in approximately 18 months.

Your client’s experience reflects on you. We treat every referred client as if they came to us through their own trust in this firm, because in a real sense, they did.
